Suzanne Holman (later Farrington) was the daughter of the film star Vivien Leigh. In 1940, Suzanne was 7 years old, the War had started, she had been taken to Canada and installed in a Catholic school. Her parents were newly divorced and her mother had married Laurence Olivier in the same year. According to Wikipedia, Leigh only visited her daughter once in Vancouver, in November 1940. This caused such a blaze of publicity that Suzanne had to be removed from her new school. So here, from the inscription (not in Leigh's writing), we have a rather dull 1940 Christmas present for the young Suzanne. The book should still be wet with tears!
